2008/2009 Accessibility Construction Update
OCTOBER 2009 DOJ REPORT
The City of Bend believes that one of the hallmarks of a truly great city is access to all members of the community. The City of Bend embraces the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 202, which states in part that "no qualified individual with a disability shall, by reason of such disability, be excluded from participation in or be denied benefits of services, programs, or activities of a public entity, or be subject to discrimination by any such entity."
It is the goal of the City of Bend to make every reasonable effort to provide equal access to all City-sponsored services, programs, and activities for citizens and employees with disabilities. Equal employment opportunities will be provided for all qualified individuals with a disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The City will make reasonable modifications in policies, practices, and procedures to ensure equal access and will operate it's programs so that, when viewed as a whole, those programs are reasonably accessible to, and usable by, individuals with disabilities.
As a good faith illustration of its committiment to ensure access to all who wish to enjoy the resources of the City of Bend, the City Council passed Resolution #2511 in 2005.
