Transportation emissions, mostly from cars and trucks, account for 38 percent of Oregon's carbon dioxide emissions, according to the Oregon Governor's Advisory Group on Global Warming. CO2 emissions are a major greenhouse gas. By making it easier for people to take short trips by foot or bicycle -- and longer trips by public transit -- state and local governments can help communities reduce CO2 emissions. Related Links
