The Art of Biking to Work! Offered this summer was a successful workshop on how to commute on your bike safely and easily. Keep checking back to interesting statistics about what was learned, how attendees felt about the presentation and when we can offer these workshops again!
Road User Safety Task Force Background This task force was created in response to the increase in bike crashes within the City of Bend. The task force was created by the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee and supported by Deschutes County Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee and Commute Options. We have members from Bend MPO staff, City of Bend TSAC advisory, Bend Police Department officer, Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee volunteers and Commute Options staff. This task force has extensive volunteer commitment. Please contact the Bend MPO for further information.
2009 OREGON TRAFFIC SAFETY PERFORMANCE PLAN
Road User Safety Task Force Mission To improve motorist-bicyclist-pedestrian safety by educating and encouraging all users to share the road. Road User Safety Task Force Goals Reduce the annual number of bicycle – motor vehicle crashes in Increase education for cyclists and motorists on how to share the road. Create public-private partnerships for funding and education. Create/develop community standards (guiding principles) for road users. Increase safety such that cycling is a viable transportation option for everyone.

Road User Safety Task Force Proposed Meeting Dates and Locations: Meetings are normally held the second Thursday of each month in available City of Bend conference rooms. Please contact the BEND MPO if you would like to attend or be updated with periodic emails. Education Links: All road users have the duty to EXERCISE DUE CARE while sharing the road. ORS 811.005 Duty to exercise due care. None of the provisions of the vehicle code relieve a pedestrian from the duty to exercise due care or relieve a driver from the duty to exercise due care concerning pedestrians.
