Bend Metropolitan Planning Committees The purpose of the Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) is to involve the public in regional transportation planning. The CAC is comprised of 11 members. The CAC advises the Policy Board, the decision making body for the Bend Metropolitan Planning Organization (BMPO), regarding regional transportation planning issues. The Policy Board considers recommendations from the Citizen Committee along with input from other public outreach efforts and other BMPO advisory committees. The technical oversight of the MPO's work is delegated to the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). The TAC is comprised of professional staff members, staff from local governments, area transportation and regional agencies and other public agencies. The TAC provides technical analysis and review, comments and recommendations on draft MPO plans, programs, studies, and issues. At the meetings, members review and approve technical and planning reports and then brief their Policy Board members on the items they will take up at their own meeting. Public involvement is an important part of transportation planning. The decision making process is improved when the MPO has input from the community and a variety of stakeholders. The public involvement process was designed to make information easily accessible to anyone interested.
