Metropolitan Transportation Plan
METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION PLAN

The Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) guides regional transportation system planning and development in the Bend metropolitan area. The MTP includes provisions for meeting the transportation demand of residents over a 20-year planning horizon while addressing transportation issues and making changes that can contribute to improvements in the region's quality of life and economic vitality. The MTP addresses the principal modes of travel within the metropolitan area, including autos, public transportation, bicycling and walking. The MTP contains projects and policies to guide development of all modes of transportation.

To be compliant with provisions in the federal Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU), the MTP contains transportation policies and expected actions and is financially constrained to revenues reasonably expected to be available during the planning period.

The ongoing nature of regional transportation planning will allow the MTP to be a dynamic plan of action for the future transportation system, rather than a static snapshot in time. The range of implementation actions and plan amendment and update processes will ensure that the MTP will adapt to meet changing conditions within the region, as well as adapt to residents' changing needs. The plan's implementation and further refinement will continue through the collaborative efforts of citizens and organizations that own, operate, regulate, and use the transportation system.

The Policy board adopted the MTP on June 27, 2007.  Individual MTP chapters can be viewed by clicking the links below:
