Public Participation Program

Public involvement and participation are key components of the transportation decision-making process. It is the goal of the Bend Metropolitan Planning Organization (BMPO) to provide an open planning process with multiple opportunities for public participation and input. The BMPO has developed a draft Public Involvement Plan.

Federal transportation planning rules require a 45-day public comment period prior to adoption by the Policy Board. The BMPO Policy Board held a public meeting on August 17, 2006, at 4:00 pm to review the draft program and open the public comment period. Adoption of the program has been delayed to expand the draft to incorporate the requirements of the current federal transportation legislation – the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU). A public meeting and hearing to consider the revised program will likely be scheduled for the July 19, 2007, Policy Board meeting.

Copies of the initial draft Public Involvement Plan may be obtained at the following link: Draft Public Involvement Plan

All persons wishing to be heard on the draft Public Involvement Plan are invited to mail written comments to the Bend MPO, Attn: Tyler Deke, 710 NW Wall Street, Bend, Oregon 97701. Written comments may also be submitted by e-mail to Tyler Deke.
