The City of Bend offers the following benefits to its employees:
- Public Employees Retirement System - Offered through the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS)/Oregon Public Service Retirement Plan(OPSRP). Membership is mandatory after six months of employment. Contributions are fully City paid. For additional information, please visit www.oregon.gov\pers
- Medical Insurance - Coverage is effective the first day of the month following date of hire(or on the date of hire when it coincides with the first of the month) and includes medical, vision and prescription coverage. Employees pay a portion of the monthly premium through payroll deduction.
- Dental Insurance - Coverage is effective the first day of the month following date of hire (or on the date of hire when it coincides with the first of the month) and includes dental and orthodontics. Employees pay a portion of the monthly premium through payroll deduction.
- Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance - City-paid coverage for $50,000 term life and $50,000 for AD&D insurance for employees. Supplemental coverage is available for employees and/or dependents at the employee's expense.
- Long Term Disability Insurance - City-paid coverage has 90-day waiting period from disability commencement. Benefits are paid at 66 2/3% of basic monthly earnings, not to exceed the maximum monthly benefit of $8,000.

- Paid Time Off - Generous sick leave and vacation programs are offered, depending on the individual's employment status with the City.
- Employee Assistance Program - The City contracts with a group of mental health professionals and consultants to provide confidential services to City employees and their families. The first three visits are at no cost to the employee.
- Deferred Compensation - 457 Deferred Compensation plans are currently offered through ICMA-RC, and Nationwide Retirement Solutions. Participation is optional and contributions are employee funded.
Full-time and part-time employees are eligible for benefits. Part-time employees have a six month waiting period, and benefits are prorated according to hours worked. Temporary employees are not eligible for benefits.
Other benefits are available according to Association agreements.
