Following is a brief summary of what BURA is about:

BURA is a seven member board consisting of the seven members of the City Council (please see under board members) who meet the Monday before the second Council meeting of every month at 5:00 pm in the Board Room at City Hall.  The agendas and attending documents are posted on this website under "Current BURA Agenda Packet" the week before any given meeting. 

        Program Goals 

    To sustain and enhance the Central Bend Development Program Area's livability and economic vitality for its residents, businesses and visitors.

    To complete construction of the downtown parking structure.

    To prepare an urban renewal plan for the Juniper Ridge industrial area and to initiate development of the area.

        Essential Requirements

    Implement projects identified in the downtown urban renewal plan.

    Develop financing strategy for plan implementation.

    Investigate/prepare new urban renewal plans.

        Current Trends

    Development impetus is strong in downtown Bend, necessitating aggressive actions to deal with parking issues.

    Potential urban renewal projects exceed resources, necessitating a careful evaluation of resources to maximize impacts.

    Juniper Ridge property is being master planned thus requiring a comprehensive financing/development strategy.
